Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems may
be costing you $$$
Illegally distributed copyrighted materials could cost your
company fines up to $150,000.
In the “Study
Says Employees are Exposing Co-Workers’ Personal Information”,
SecurityInfoWatch.com
(August 22, 2005) article, it stated that over 80% of the
assessments conducted in July 2005 discovered Copyrighted
materials being ‘shared’ through P2P systems.
In addition, P2P was found to be a good tool for industrial
espionage since most applications break up the files into smaller
files that are reassembled at their destination and it makes it
hard to detect what it contains.
In addition, P2P can be harmful to your system, since many
file-sharing programs contain spyware.
